Bodhan is a small town located near Nanded district of Maharashtra. Although it is a taluq of Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh state,it has been considered as the bridge in between Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh in the northern part of Telangana region.

The name of Bodhan is historically well known. According to a local legend pertaining to Mahabharata, in one of the portion of Bodhan that is at Rakasipet one Rakshasa was killed by Bhima of Pandavas. The name of Bodhan also known as the"Paudhanyapura"and "Ekachakrapura" in the local and many historic works. Historically speaking less research has been done on this area though it is enriched with nearby tourist centres, temples, agrarian fields. In the vicinity of Bodhan two ponds are present. One is the Belal Cheruvu and another one is Pandu cheruvu. Most of the irrigation is carried here by these ponds apart from ground water and wells.

Mr.Giri Nagabhushanam a journalist cum historian written the history of nizamabad in which he also touched this area. The efforts of local writers and historical enthusiasts like Mr. Satish Vaidya and Mr. Yadav Rao and numerous researchers made it possible to explore Bodhan as a part of Nizamabad and Telengana in terms of its history, culture, archaeology,geography,administration and other aspects of explorable knowledge.A Very few research works were carried out and all these were not published

. However it does not lie as a remote area but it is well known internationally because of its earlier Nizam Sugar Factory. Presently it has been taken over by the private management and been called as "The Nizam sugars Limited". Apart from producing sugar and molosis the factory is producing some other products like thermal electricity.
